2015 -16

Some highlights from my junior year at Providence… I’ve been named Co-Captain along with senior Lauren Ellis, one of my old 3v3 teammates. We are doing well this year despite losing some key players, including my sister, Maddy!

USA Today named us #1 women’s high school soccer team in the nation. Click here to read the article.  Tough match against Lake Norman but we pulled it out 2-1. Click here to see my friend’s tweet of a vid he shot of my free kick!

Finally made it to the State Finals. Our opponent was Middle Creek.
Click here to read the Observer article about our victory. First time in 19 years that Providence women’s soccer has won the State title.  To top it off, I was named 4a Championship MVP.  Highlights:  Bounce-in header goal and the crowd cheering “Molly” to the tune of “Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole”!

For my play at Providence, I also received  All-Conference, All-Region and All-State team nominations, finishing the season with 19 goals and 8 assists.   Click here to read the article. On the club side, my Carolina Rapids Burgundy team won the US Club Regionals on June 20, then went to Greenville to compete in the USYS Regionals, from June 23-30.  We won that, as well, which qualifies us for Nationals in Dallas, July 25. I received the MVP Award for my play in the USYS Regionals (see picture with my coach, Nathan Williams) so now it’s on to Dallas.  Two weeks later… we’re back from Dallas, having finished third; a 2-1 loss to the team that ultimately went onto win it. Tough teams and tougher weather, but we managed to have a good tournament.  We’ll get them next year!  Last matches ever with my long time friends and teammdallas nationals_2016ates Brandi and Emory!  Very sad to see them to off to college and leave us behind.  Good luck and we’ll be playing together again soon, I’m sure!

Photo to the right is last picture of us together as a team with the “Fab Five”!?

About a month has passed since Nationals and I just found out that I was named to the USYS National Championships “Best XI” team.  Pretty cool trophy, too!  Fast forward to December and we’re playing four games in Wilson, some kind of National League molly-best-11-trophy_webshowcase.  We ended up with two wins and a tie, one of the ties to the National Champ YMS team that we’d lost to in the semi finals in Dallas. Scores: Arsenal 2-2, Legends 1-0 ASA 4-0 and YMS 0-0.   Had four goals over the four games.  Next stop, Atlanta this weekend, December 10!

This was fun and even Abby Wambach thought so! It was called the “Header Challenge”.  Check it out!
