2016 -17

2016 ended with a trip to the Disney Showcase where we went four for four and are now qualified for Nationals.  I would show you some of the pictures I took of all of my bruises — a couple very mollys-narmtough, physical games — but they’re too disturbing!

Ok, if you insist; believe it or not, these bruises are fingerprints!

That was the good news. The bad news is that my two teammates and friends, Olivia and Kate, are graduating early so they’re now off to college!  I wish them both the best and look forward to playing with them again soon.

2017-disney-champsTo the right is probably the last photo that we will take as a team… Very sad to see them to off to college and leave us behind.  Good luck!  To the far right is a photo of my younger sister, Kate, myself, and our Japanese exchange student brother, Yutaro.  Yuta (as we call him) really liked Florida and said he would like to live there.

Early February played two SRPL (southern region premier league) games; Florida Krush Blk and Tennessee 98.  Of our ten goals I had six so felt like I had a good weekend, especially in the Krush game when two of my goals helped us come back from a 2-0 half to win 4-2.

Into high school season now that it’s April.  Lots of rained-out games, lots of ties.  Play-offs are around the corner… just a week or two away, now. Been invited to play in the East/West Allstar game and the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Clash of the Carolinas but can only do East/West as already committed to working with my UNCW team at summer camp that week.  As for high school, lost in fourth round 2-nil to the team that went on to win it… not the best season, but not the worst, either.  Named First Team All Meck 8 Conference, All State.

Club… won 2017 Regionals so now off to Nationals in Dallas, end of July. We won it… National Champions.  Lets go to the videotape of the game! The announcers call me a “warrior,” a “headache to the other team” and a “bulldog”… nice!  In the end, they were nicer and  said that I was “arguably the best player on the field today.” !!

This from a letter I just got today!:

Dear Molly McGarry,
On behalf of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, I am pleased to inform you of your selection to the 2017 NSCAA High School Girls All-America Team. You have been selected as one of the best soccer players in the nation…(here’s a link to the NSCAA announcement)
Now, its onto college and 2017/2018… UNCW Seahawks, here I come!
